After that unusual inauguration ceremony I needed something to make me laugh, something to bring me hope that life would go on, that people were still good, and that hope could propel us forward. A picture of Bernie Sanders sitting alone in the cold wearing his mask and mittens has flooded the airwaves, bringing laughter from shore to shore. Folks have inserted Bernie into all sorts of backgrounds and I’ve laughed at every single one. I’m going to share some of my personal favorites for your viewing pleasure, along with a few captions I came up with.
“No, really guys. You don’t have to work this hard. We’re going to feed you and clothe you and send your kids to college for free!”
“Why didn’t the people pick me? My plan for America is out of this world!”
“I’ve been bugging the Republicans for years!”
“Hamilton, could you and Jefferson stop arguing for just a minute and check out this gorgeous babe next to me? I think she’s digging me.”
“I hope you’re enjoying your free education! If you like high school, just wait until you see my plan for free college!”
There you have it, friends! In the middle of what was one of the strangest days ever in American history, Bernie—without even trying—made us all smile. I don’t know about you but I’m extremely grateful!
