A few days back Alexandria Cortez posted an emotional video about the day her life was supposedly almost taken. (She has since blamed Ted Cruz for her near-death experience, but I digress.)
In her account of what happened at The U.S. Capitol on January 6th, she was hiding in a closet in her office when vicious terrorist attackers came near enough to make her think she would die. Here’s what she had to say, specifically:
“So I run back into my office. I slam my door. There’s another kind of like back area to my office, and I open it, and there’s a closet and a bathroom. And I jump into my bathroom.” She went on to say that her legislative director, Geraldo Bonilla-Chavez, told her to “hide, hide, run and hide.”
After that, she claimed the terrorists yelled, “Where is she!?”
This would be a terrifying story. . .if true.
Cortez’s account of the story (which is trending on social media) is now being questioned, however. Representative Nancy Mace has an office two doors down from AOC. Here’s what she had to say in response to hearing Cortez’s version of what happened that infamous day:
@AOC made clear she didn’t know who was at her door. Breathless attempts by media to fan fictitious news flames are dangerous. My office is 2 doors down. Insurrectionists never stormed our hallway. Egregious doesn’t even begin to cover it. Is there nothing MSM won’t politicize?
Conservatives are having a field day with this, as you might imagine. The hashtag #alexandriaocasiosmollet is currently trending.
Jussie Smollet, as you might recall, fabricated a story about being beaten. His so-called hate crime assault was quite dramatic, too. In fact, Smollet took to the airwaves detailing the event. . .which turned out to be completely staged.
Not to be outdone by AOC’s drama, conservative Candace Owens tweeted:
No doubt Ted got a laugh out of that one. Really, that’s all you can do these days. . .laugh.
Here’s the thing: The Mainstream Media will report anything a liberal says. Anything. Right or wrong. Exaggerated or not. And they won’t recant if the story is proven to be slanted or embellished. They’ll go right on, making the liberals look like saints and the conservatives look like bad guys.
Can you even imagine what would happen if a Trump-supporter had added that sort of hyperbole to a news story?
I cringe, just thinking about it.
But they’ll go right on, promoting half-truths. Why? To keep the narrative going, of course. How is the world supposed to believe Republicans are terrorists if folks like AOC don’t provide the details?
