We’re seeing a lot of products undergo transformation at the hands of the new political correctness police. They’re being rebranded as we speak.
Last night, with that in mind, my daughter sent me this picture:
I couldn’t help but laugh. And then cry. Because she’s probably right. They’ll be coming after “man” and “woman” next, because the world, as we know it, is being gender-neutralized.
I don’t know about you, but I’m not ready for man, woman, Mr., Mrs., boy, girl, aunt, and uncle to go away. It’s going to get really confusing if everyone is referred to as “it.” Or, worse, as capitalized letters of the alphabet.
“Hi Q, nice to meet you.”
“No, I’m L. But it’s nice to meet you too, B.”
“I haven’t been B since last summer. You can call me G now.”
You get the idea. Times, they are a’changin’. Me? I simply can’t keep up.
As far as these old, familiar products go. . .
Sure, there are some images from the past we need to do away with. Maybe update them with newer, fresher images. But do we really—as some would argue—kill off Dr. Seuss altogether because some of the books back in the day were politically incorrect? Do we throw out the baby with the bath water?
If we start down that road we’ll be eliminating much of life as we know it.
Then again, maybe that’s what “they” are hoping to do.
Also, if we’re going with that philosophy, (that the sins of the past must be “cancel cultured” today) then we have to look at Planned Parenthood, too. Wasn’t Margaret Sanger, their found, interested in doing away with the black population? She was the one who said:
“We do not want word to get out that we want to exterminate the Negro population.” (Margaret Sanger, Father of Modern Society by Elasah Drogin)
Since PP’s roots are deeply embedded in the eugenics movement, it would stand to reason that they must be canceled too. Right? Or, am I missing something here?
And it wasn’t just the black population Sanger was trying to eliminate. She said this, as well:
“Feeble-minded persons, habitual congenital criminals, those afflicted with inheritable diseases, and others found biologically unfit should be sterilized or in cases of doubt be isolated as to prevent the perpetuation of their afflictions by breeding” (Margaret Sanger, Code to Stop the Overproduction of Children, 1934, p.71).
To my way of thinking, that’s far worse than an Eskimo pie or the image of a native American on a butter package.
But the weird thing is, Leftists don’t seem to care about Sanger’s comments or about PP’s shady past.
So, that tells me the cancel culture is totally driven by political correctness, not a true desire to repent for yesterday’s wrongs.
So, yeah. . .look for Manwich to be castrated. I suspect they’ll be rolling him into the operating room soon.
