I think I’ve made my position about masks known in other articles. I haven’t agreed with the mandates. I believe those who are immune-compromised are smart enough to wear them if they feel vulnerable.
But Biden and most other Democrats have made a huge deal out of the masks. So, imagine my surprise at the news that Biden’s new climate envoy, John Kerry, was spotted on an American Airlines flight jammed full of other passengers. . .not wearing a mask.
He settled into a seat in 1st class and promptly removed the mask. He didn’t appear to be eating or drinking. As you can clearly see from the photo, he’s simply reading a book.
Would this be a good time to remind folks that babies have been kicked off of planes for not masking up? Others have been dragged off, kicking and screaming. Still others have tried to reason with flight attendants after misunderstands that were mask-related.
Why, then, is it okay for a politician in 1st class to simply disregard the rules? If the other passengers onboard that flight had to wear a mask, why didn’t our climate envoy?
American Airlines’ Chief Operating Officer David Seymour released this statement back in early February:
“Our mask requirement has been and will continue to be a critical component of our comprehensive effort to protect the health and well-being of our customers and team members during the pandemic,” said Seymour. “This federal mandate will provide additional support to our crew members who are working diligently to enforce our policy and further reinforce the safety of air travel during COVID-19.”
As before, customers are required to wear masks for the duration of their journey, including at the airport and on board the aircraft. Children under the age of two will continue to be exempt from the mask requirement. Consistent with U.S. government directives, individuals who refuse to wear a mask may be denied boarding, removed from the aircraft or subject to penalties under federal law, in addition to being barred from future travel with American.”
Doesn’t look like Kerry was denied service, now does it?
For whatever reason I’m reminded of a saying my granddaddy used to use: What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.
If masks are mandated, if they’re also required by American Airlines, then why would Kerry simply ignore the rules while others were required to follow them?
Could it be that he, like so many other elitists., considers himself above them, perhaps?
