Scarlet Lindsey | Civil Patriot
I don’t know about you but I’ve been looking for a super-hero all of my life. (Maybe that’s why I’m still single.)
But, seriously. When the going gets tough, I want the super heroes to fly into action. And I want any ensuing battles to play out just like they do on the big screen in vivid Technicolor display. I want Batman to arrive in his bat mobile at just the right moment and take that joker down. No messing around. No time for chit-chat. Just get in there, and “Bam! Pow! Splat!”
I have the same desire when it comes to my politics. I don’t want namby-pamby representatives—folks who happily take my vote but then never listen to what I say.
No, I want supernatural courage from those people I put in office. I don’t want to see news clips of my guys (or gals) sitting on their hands while leftists plow over them like stalks of corn in a field.
Get busy, Batman! Get busy, Robin! Put on those boxing gloves! The joker’s on the prowl and he’s coming for all of us. We’re counting on you to stand in the gap and to keep us safe.
With that in mind, I thought I might share a few of my favorite Batman quotes along with some personal comments.
“I’m whatever Gotham needs me to be.”
- I want my representatives to take a clue from Batman! We are Gotham. And we need our representatives to be more like us. That means they need to get to know us better and understand why we sent them there in the first place.
“There is a difference between you and me. We both looked into the abyss, but when it looked back at us… you blinked.”
- We need them to be brave. They can’t make the trek to D.C. only to turn into RINOs, God forbid. We’re sending them into the lion’s den. But they made a commitment to go in our stead and to bravely face the opposition. Now is not the time to flinch!
“I wear a mask. And that mask, it’s not to hide who I am, but to create what I am.”
- They need to be flexible and savvy. And they need to remember that, at home they might be Bruce Wayne, but the minute their feet hit that Senate or House floor they supernaturally take flight. They need to don that mask with a gleam in their eyes and holler, “Wham! Zam! Kapow!” as they prepare themselves to change the country on behalf of those who sent them there.
“I have one power. I never give up.”
- Don’t ever quit, representatives! I promise, i won’t even mention the words “term limits” if you will stick to your guns and prove yourselves strong. You can stay as long as you like if you truly care about what I think. Just do your very best to represent me.
Batman was—and is—a brilliant dichotomy. Regular Joe at home, super-hero on the job. And I don’t know about you, but that’s exactly what I’m looking for in my representatives.
I’m not saying I am Batman, I am just saying that no one has ever seen me and Batman in the same room…
