It was inevitable, I suppose, that Joe would come after our guns. He and his Democrat allies have already attempted to rob conservatives of so many of the things we’re passionate about—our 1st Amendment rights, for instance. And our ability to keep our businesses open during the pandemic. Oh, and our oil jobs.
But, the 2nd amendment? He didn’t waste much time in doubling down on his efforts to disarm us, did he? (Any reason why a Democrat would want to disarm a conservative?)
Alan Gottlieb, founder of the Second Amendment Foundation, had this to say about Biden’s recent comments:
“It’s a four-prong attack against firearms ownership in the country. One is universal background check is really a universal registration system. Second is banning of assault weapons and then defining assault weapons as almost any semi-automatic firearm. Third is banning magazines that hold more than 10 rounds, you know, again, hurts people twice for self-defense in our country, and then attacking the firearms industry so that any criminal that goes out and misuses a gun, the gun manufacturer can be sued for it, it’s going to put the industry out of business and nobody can buy a gun. And that’s just what he wants legislatively. That’s not even what he’s talking about on executive orders. There’s a lot more of those coming to and appearing, some might be coming down the pike pretty soon.”
We shouldn’t be surprised if Biden decides to pull out more of those infamous Executive Orders of his to bring pressure to bear on gun owners. Just last week he called on Congress to ban assault weapons and so-called high-capacity magazines.
The goal here is to ban semi-automatic firearms and magazines that hold multiple bullets (interpretation: most firearms). Clearly, this administration wants to see us disarmed. The past 12 months we’ve already been forced into submission in a host of unexpected ways. Trump supporters have been falsely accused, ridiculed, and censored. I’m thinking this isn’t a good time to start messing with the 2nd amendment.
Psaki (Biden’s White House press secretary) has gone on record as stating that Biden has “a range of actions at his disposal,” which is, of course, just what has gun owners worried. If he pulls out those EOs (Executive Orders) and starts signing away our right to own weapons, then it will be another in a long line of rugs that have been pulled out from under us over the past year. And right now, we don’t need another rug pulled out.
In the strangest twist of all, Biden is pushing the notion that gunmakers can be sued if a someone uses their gun in a crime. Um, that’s like suing McDonalds for giving you a belly ache after you ate five Big Macs. Some things just can’t be blamed on the producer.
But you get the point. . .gun manufacturing would be crippled, should Biden have his way. And that’s really his goal here, to cripple the industry while pulling guns out of the hands of owners. Again, I have to question the motives.
I’m remembering the “good old days” when Dems just wanted “common sense” gun restrictions. Their goal back then was to make America safe.
Their goal today?
Well, that’s anybody’s guess, but I’d say it has a little something to do with preventing law-abiding citizens from exercising their constitutional rights. If I thought it was really about safety, that would be another thing altogether.
But. . .is it?
It’s time to pick up those phones and call your representatives, folks. Congress must fight back or we’ll lose our 2nd amendment rights as quickly as we lost our 1st amendment rights this past year.
And you saw how quickly that happened.
