I might’ve mentioned that I’m from the great state of Texas. And I might’ve also mentioned that down here, we don’t cotton to people messing with our freedoms, our people, or our land.
Since Biden took office, all three of those things have been threatened.
I’m not exaggerating when I saw that Texans understand the border crisis because we live it every day. We see the effects caused by the flood of illegal immigrants rushing through the border. . .taking jobs away from citizens, transporting drugs, committing heinous crimes, and demanding the same rights as those who’ve come legally.
It’s quite the conundrum.
Over the weekend a surge of migrants tried to get into the U.S. at what they believed was Biden’s invitation. (This is the perception from those hoping to cross over.)
You can’t really blame them. They truly believe they will be welcomed with open arms, swept through the gates, and given free. . .everything.
And, if Biden has his way, they probably will.
The sheriff from Jackson County puts it best when he says the Biden administration: “dismantled every piece of the Immigration Naturalization Act,” meaning anyone outside the U.S. is being “invited” to come, “whether you’re seeking asylum or not.”
I’ve been particularly troubled by Biden’s Executive Order to stop building Trump’s “big, beautiful wall.” We’ve been counting on that wall to slow down the influx of people into our fair state because we just can’t keep up. Biden’s open-door policy is, frankly, terrifying.
Enter our great governor, Greg Abbott. He has officially launched “Operation Lone Star” to secure our border. He offered this statement:
“The crisis at our southern border continues to escalate because of Biden Administration policies that refuse to secure the border and invite illegal immigration. Texas supports legal immigration but will not be an accomplice to the open border policies that cause, rather than prevent, a humanitarian crisis in our state and endanger the lives of Texans. We will surge the resources and law enforcement personnel needed to confront this crisis.”
Abbott has employed the Texas National Guard and has tasked them with deploying air, ground, marine, and hands-on border security to high threat areas. The purpose? To keep Mexican cartels and other smugglers out so that they’re no longer able to move drugs and people into my home state.
This sounds like a great plan to me. And I’m glad Abbott had the courage to take this move on his own.
The problem with Biden is this: He doesn’t think we have a border crisis.
Joe, I’d love to invite you to live in South Texas for a couple of months.
I know, I know. . .you’re not even keen on getting out in front of a camera for a press conference, let alone traveling, but if you did come here for a while you’d see that there truly is a crisis at the border.
I’ve got a few friends who vote for Biden. (They’re regretting it now, trust me.) Even they have had to admit that 10,000 people a week arriving at our border (many of whom are COVID positive) is too much.
I do believe they think Biden’s new plan is a total and complete disaster.
I agree. And this story is complicated further by Biden’s “catch and release” program. (Honestly? The only “catch and release I’m interested is the kind you find out on Lake Houston.)
U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar, a Texas Democrat whose district runs along the Rio Grande border, had this to say: “We are weeks, maybe even days, away from a crisis on the southern border. Inaction is simply not an option. Our country is currently unprepared to handle a surge in migrants in the middle of the pandemic.”
Abbott’s “Operation Lone Star” is just what we need when we need it. And I, for one, would just like to say, “Well done, Sir.”
